The Rockhampton Heritage Village is an open-air museum showcasing life in Central Queensland from the late 1800s through to the mid-1900s. Visitors can explore historic buildings, heritage collections, vintage machinery, and authentic displays that bring local history to life. 

The Rockhampton Heritage Village is located at 296 Boundary Road, Parkhurst, Queensland, approximately 15 minutes from the Rockhampton CBD. 

General admission is $6 per person. Special events, markets and seasonal programs may have different admission prices. 

The Heritage Village is generally open daily from 9am to 3pm, excluding public holidays and selected closure periods. Visitors should check the website and Facebook page before travelling for any temporary changes to opening hours. 

Most visitors spend around two to three hours exploring the Village and its collections. History enthusiasts may wish to allow additional time. 

Yes. Free visitor parking is available onsite, including accessible parking spaces near the main entrance and larger spaces for RVs. 

No. Domestic pets are not permitted within the Heritage Village. Registered service animals are welcome, although access restrictions apply in some animal areas. 

Registered service animals are permitted, but are not allowed near the duck enclosure, chicken enclosure, viewing platform or near any livestock due to the distress and safety risks it can cause to these animals.

Rockhampton Regional Council provides a number of dog-friendly parks which you may wish to access during your visit. Click here for more information.

Yes. Six accessible parking spaces are available in the bitumen carpark at the main entry. Four of these are located near the main entrance and two near the Shearing Shed.

 The Village includes sealed roads, gravel pathways and grassed areas however visitors using mobility equipment may find all-terrain wheels helpful. 

The following display are wheelchair accessible: Menzie's Garage, Rosewood Shed, Karl and Woods, Stringy Bark Shed, Blacksmith Shop, 1st CQ Light Horse Collection, lower level of the Fire Station, City Printing Works, Doll House, lower level of the School, Hospital, Kianga Shearing Shed, Powerhouse and Lakes Creek Cottage.

Yes. Visitors are welcome to bring in outside food - why not pack a picnic!

Yes. Families can enjoy exploring historic buildings, viewing heritage exhibits, attending markets and participating in school holiday activities throughout the year. 

The Heritage Village regularly hosts school holiday programs featuring outdoor activities, hands-on experiences and rides. Activities vary each holiday period. Check the What's On Calendar for more information. 

Yes. Visitors can see a range of farm animals and heritage-style rural displays throughout the site. 

During School Holiday Activity Days children can feed the farm animals. Please ensure you have read the information in the What's On Calendar event listing to confirm. 

Absolutely. The Heritage Village offers an engaging way for children to learn about early Queensland life through historic buildings, machinery, exhibits and interactive experiences. 

Yes. Prams are welcome; however, some areas include grass, gravel and uneven surfaces, so visitors should take care when moving around the site. 

Yes. Set on 11.4 hectares of bushland, the Heritage Village is one of Central Queensland's most unique heritage attractions, offering a glimpse into regional history through authentic buildings, exhibits and rural heritage experiences. 

The Village authentically captures a generous slice of an earlier generations’ way of life and is a wonderful opportunity for your whole family to learn and have fun. Experience life before electricity with a tour through many homesteads, view the many vintage cars, tractors, fire engines and horse drawn vehicles and wagons on display, watch how a 1950s print press works, visit the Blacksmith Shop and take in the traditional skills from a bygone era.

The Heritage Village combines historic buildings, vintage collections, rural heritage displays, special events and a traditional country atmosphere all within one attraction. It is popular with caravan travellers and retirees who enjoy museums, local history, heritage architecture and leisurely self-guided exploration.

Yes. Visitors are free to explore the Village at their own pace with the Self-Guided Tour.

A dump point is located at the Rockhampton Heritage Village in the main carpark, allowing travellers to easily stop off the highway at a convenient location close to a shopping centre, fuel station and the Village museum. 

Please note that the dump point will be closed during major event bump-in and school holiday activities to ensure the safety of patrons in the Heritage Village carpark. Management understands the importance of the dump point to travellers and will limit the temporary closures to peak hours.

The Heritage Village hosts a range of markets and special events throughout the year, including seasonal market events and Christmas markets. Dates are published on the What's On page. 

Visitors can browse 100+ market stalls, enjoy food vendors, experience vintage vehicle rides and soak up the atmosphere of a traditional country market. 

Yes. The Heritage Village market events feature a diverse range of food vendors, refreshments and local produce for purchase. 

The Heritage Village Markets are free entry. 

Some special events and markets may have different admission pricing than standard Village entry. Event details will specify any applicable fees.

Yes. The Heritage Village offers a unique country-style setting for weddings, featuring heritage charm, open spaces, photo opportunities and reception facilities within the Australian Shearing Shed. 

Yes. Couples can host both wedding ceremonies and receptions within the Heritage Village precinct, creating a convenient and memorable experience. 

The Heritage Village combines rustic country character, heritage buildings, beautiful photography backdrops and modern event facilities. 

Yes. The Heritage Village provides a variety of heritage-inspired settings and country landscapes ideal for wedding photography.

The Australian Shearing Shed is the Heritage Village's primary event venue and can be configured for a wide range of functions and special events.
